A foreign currency reserve contains assets like cash and gold that are held by the central banks of countries and international financial institutions (i.e. IMF). It is used for foreign investment, helps keep the value of domestic currency at a fixed rate, and maintain liquidity of a country during economic crisis.

For the sake of this debate, a secondary earner refers to a partner in a relationship or marriage who earns less than their significant other. The status of being a secondary earner in a relationship may be negotiated, for the trade-off that the secondary earner works or earns less, but spends more time at home to take care of the house and/or kids.
